St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato, MN, seeks a full-time Director of Children's and Adult Formation to direct the planning, implementation and work of the Children and Adult Faith Formation program for children grades 1-4 and adults of all ages and needs. Responsibilities include:
-Direct the overall Elementary Faith Formation (Gr. 1-4) program on Sunday morning, including all the details for First Reconciliation and First Communion preparation.
-Direct and coordinate Children's Liturgy of the Word.
-Direct and coordinate Baptism Preparation.
-Collaborate with staff to plan and support Vacation Bible School and intergenerational faith formation community events.
-Collaborate with the pastor and liturgist on some aspects of Marriage Preparation, including record keeping for Prepare/Enrich, and other important aspects necessary for marriage preparation.
-Promote, recruit, train, and, if necessary, lead adult small group faith sharing.
-Act as St. John's Safe Environment Coordinator - Must be trained and certified by the Diocese of Winona to be the Safe Environment Coordinator.
-Assist with Initiation Ministry (RCIA) as a catechist and help with IM interviews.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) or Master of Arts degree in Catholic Pastoral Studies, Theology, Religious Education, General Education or a related field, and at least 2 years of related formation experience in a parish or diocesan position, or currently training in Theology, Christology, Ecclesiology, Pastoral Studies, etc. Related degrees or comparable experience will be considered, such as curriculum development and teaching experience. Must be a confirmed, practicing Catholic.
