For the 14th straight year, the Diocese of Winona has been found to be in full compliance with the Charter for the Protection of Children set forth by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.

Bishop John M. Quinn said he is committed to the Safe Environment Program instituted by the diocese to educate all adults on ways to keep children safe.

“The Diocese of Winona is very happy to have received notification from Stone Bridge Business Partners that all of our parishes and Catholic schools are in compliance with the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People.  This is another sign of our commitment as a Catholic community to provide a safe environment for everyone,” Bishop Quinn said.

The procedures in place include training and screening of adult volunteers and employees, as well as training for the children and young people of the diocese, in both parish religious education programs and the Catholic schools.

Safe Environment Program Manager Mary Hamann praises the parishes and schools for their continued dedication and commitment to training both youth and adults in Safe Environment practices.

Bishop Quinn expresses his gratitude to all those who have contributed to the diocese’s compliant status.
